As we do each year the club was in the “thick of it” supporting the annual Paihia to Russell Swim, part of the Ocean Swim series. This involved a team assisting the organisers set up the infrastructure (tents etc) on the Russell Village Green on Friday 10 November ready for the event starting very early the next morning.
On the Saturday spectators, and swimmers as they finished, were greeted with a chance to enjoy a sausage – this was a fundraiser for the club and as with every year was popular and a special thanks to Four Square Russell for their support but also the QRC students who volunteered to help as part of their course community service requirement as well. In the meantime other Rotary members and volunteers helped direct swimmers and spectators and looked after swimmers possessions.
